Chicago.

Jessie and Chris are beautiful. I’m not merely speaking of their physical appearance; the fact that they’re also stunning is just a bonus. They are whole-hearted people in a perpetual state of gratitude & wonder. They are playful, creative and self-aware. They are total goofballs who love to laugh and dance with wild abandon. They have a generosity and thoughtfulness which seem unwavering. And there is a powerful stillness and heartening spirit to them that inspires me to be a better person just by being in their presence.

As their first big creation as a couple, the wedding celebration Jessie and Chris crafted together was a meaningful expression of what they’ve cultivated over the past seven years. Their event was a joyful gathering wrapped in calm energy, sincerity and laughter; thoughtful hand-made details, classic touches and wild florals; there was a community-style family meal shared on long farm tables, and lots of desserts.

To say that Brandon and I “meshed” with Jessie and Chris, is an understatement. We bonded. But much more than that, we were “with them”. To us they felt like kindred spirits and fellow old souls. We just knew who they are and we instantly and instinctively became part of the group.

The creative freedom we are entrusted with from such connections ignites a fire in us that draws out our truest, most free-flowing artistic voice. Many shots were made without our minds being involved at all; just art and the heart.

We could capture Jessie and Chris in this way because we saw them, not through the eyes of “wedding photographers”, but through the eyes of their best friends and family members. As we were witnessing rare moments passing by, we knew we had to create images reflecting what their friends and family were seeing and feeling.

Sharing this wedding feels like revealing a precious secret: open your heart and soul as we all did; here are the beautiful, Jessie and Chris.
