there are millions of choices you can make every second, some of which have the potential to stretch the edges of that comfy zone you’re so familiar with.
3 weeks ago in playa del carmen, mexico, as I was washing a tea cup in my kitchen sink, a couple caught my eye as they walked hand in hand past my window. they were beautiful, and I immediately felt it in my heart that I wanted to photograph them. I was rocking on the tips of my toes ready to run out the door but as the seconds went by, they disappeared in the distance and here I was holding onto my cup, in the middle of the kitchen.
I thought about them all day, this chance encounter I could’ve had if I just found the courage to run after them. it seems to come so easy to some yet so foreign, challenging and awkward for me.
but the universe is generous.. coming back from the grocery store, there they were, in the parking lot.
I jumped out of the car, and outright express in spanish how beautiful they are and how much i wanted to photograph them. and the very next morning, julieta & ricardo, a vibrant couple travelling all the way from argentina, and i were reveling, laughing and playing in the middle of this incredibly abundant vegetation. 1 hour of sheer delight, joy, spontaneity for this impromptu exotic portrait session in the yucatan banyan groves.
