“off the beaten path”.
that phrase took on a whole different meaning that day.
i found myself in the back of their jeep, next to a vintage cooler and a pile of tribal blankets. a cloud of dust and sunlight trailing behind us. it was a bumpy, intensely exhilarating ride and i was taking it all in, smiling ear to ear. we were signing out loud, ruka the dog, was sticking her face out in the wind, and there was this peaceful yet thrilling feel of adventuring in the air. my heart was jumping along the bumps and dips in the road, and the music was beating along with the jagged scenery of the mountain peaks passing us by.
how exactly did i find myself there? these amazing couples i meet and get to tell stories about, there is a force that pulls us together, that makes us instantly and effortlessly mesh. it’s the way in which we see life, the things we love and value. a common trait i share with all my couples is that we value venturing off the beaten path. the idea of exploring for ourselves and embracing the out-of-ordinary is exciting to us. it’s never the smoothest, most polished or proper path, but it’s often where we discover something true and real within us.
