TOOK MY CLOTHES OFF IN FRONT OF PEOPLE
“Reclining Nude”.
The year is 2008. I live in a studio apartment with a kitten named Nala, Trader Joe’s pizza in my freezer and cheap Chianti in my fridge, eager to learn and forge my own path in the Art World.
Becoming an Art Model allowed me to finance my Fine Arts, Design & Business degrees while I studied at Arizona State University. Between classes, I took on the role of muse for talented apprentices and renowned artists alike, contributing to their study of the human form across various media, including pastels, gouaches, clay and photography. I learned about tone, texture and weight, how light and shadow move across the skin, and how to convey feeling and natural movement with the tools at hand, whether a paintbrush or a camera. This experience taught me about self-awareness, vulnerability, humility poise and discipline.
This is the birthplace of my heart for art.
Dusty art studios became my playground. As I walked barefoot over charcoal crumbs and vintage tapestries, jars of diluted paint in every color filled my eyes. I felt overcome by a deep sense of aesthetic, bigger than my eye could grasp.
